Beach day at preschool

Taylor had beach day today at her "peeschool" and she was so excited. Her preschool is so awesome they are always doing so many cool things. When I picked her up she said they went on a cruise and they made fishbowls with fake fish in them and got a cool dolphin necklace and a beach ball to play with at home. She had a great day today.

Then Maren had an assignment at school today. The assignment was if you could plan an entire week of playing with friends what would your schedule be like, draw a picture to describe it. She only had 2 days of the week where she was playing with friends and going to church. She had a day of playing with Taylor, Me and Jon...what sweet kids I have :)

Our new favorite winter activity

This is in Park City and it's right off of the Kimball Junction (I think) exit. We have been teaching the kids how to ski this year and they are having a ball. This hill is so perfect for teaching kids how to ski. They have a small magic carpet and you can just walk along side of them and help them down. Then when they have figured it out the hill is so small you can just watch at the bottom of the hill while they do it all them selves. The other great thing about it is it's only $10.00 for a whole day!

Then when they are done skiing on the other side of the magic carpet there is a tubing hill and of course my kids LOVED it.

This is Lauren's first time sledding, I couldn't even get her to crack a smile. She didn't cry though so I'm going to count that as she liked it.

The wind was insane the day we took our pictures, but we knew we couldn't wait another day because we wanted to do a fall picture. Anyways due to the wind the pictures didn't turn out exactly how I wanted them to, but they are family pictures all the same :) I'm glad I got what I have and that's all that matters.

Snow Fall 2010

We woke up the other day and it was snowing. The girls had to go to school so they couldn't play in it and they were so sad. I promised them that if it was still snowing when they came home they could play in the snow. So when we pulled up to the house and it was still snowing they jumped out of the car and started catching snowflakes.

I tried to talk them into gloves in the first place, but they had to learn the hard way :)

We came inside to make hot chocolate and I made it too hot so they were complaining to each other about how hot I made it.

At least it made their hands warm.

FINALLY :)
Round 2...with gloves this time. They played outside for 2 hours and they were sad it wasn't snowing anymore by the time they came in.

Jon can't deny them that's for sure!

HA HA HA I think I'm funny :) Jon and I a while back decided to run the Dirty Dash. It's a 6 mile "run" and you go through all these obstacles like running up a hill with the sprinklers on and jumping over hay bales, getting sprayed with a fire hose, swimming through mud and running through a swamp. Needless to say it was really pretty....well fun. Jon and I had a lot of fun together because really we aren't together alone a lot these days. I am so grateful for my cute husband who is always ready for an adventure. I've always said I married a play boy and even at the age of 31 and the first counselor in the bishopric he's still game. He's such a little boy sometimes and I completely love that about him. Thank you babe for keeping me grounded :) Thank you for being so much fun. I love you more than love you and I always will!!!

So Maren has had 2 loose teeth for a while now it was finally time for one of them to come out and she started out pretty excited. (notice the 2 teeth growing up from her "guts" but behind her baby teeth.)

I gave it a shot first and started the whole drama off :)

Then we gave Uncle Jeff a call because she didn't want us to try anymore. For some reason she thought if Jeff did it it wouldn't hurt.

Well it still hurt, but at least he got her tooth out. She kept asking me "why do my guts have to bleed mom...why?"

Pumpkin Patch

So life has been pretty busy so I have a lot of catching up to do on here. For Taylor's Preschool we went to the pumpkin patch and we had a ball! I hardly ever get to just focus on Taylor because Maren is busy and Lauren is a full time job right now. I had so much fun playing with my little girl I wish I could do it more often.

They got to pick out their pumpkins and then the guy would come over and cut the pumpkin for them. Taylor was so excited and it took her about 2 seconds to find the pumpkin she wanted.

After they picked out their pumpkins they got to go play for about an hour on the play ground there. I love this picture because Taylors little pig tails are bouncing all over the place while she ran to the slide.

Once she got to the slide she was a little scared.

This cute guy at the top of the slide helped her down. (I am not suggesting that I think he is attractive mostly because he is probably 17 years old, but I am just pointing out that he was very sweet helping my little girl get down the slide)

Taylor wanted me to go on the barrel ride with her because she was too nervous to go alone so I of course brought my camera along and got this really cool shot of us going through the corn!

So I've been seeing a lot of this lately. Lauren has been quite mobile trying to keep up with her sisters. So needless to say now that I have 3 mobile kids my house has been pretty hard to keep up. I follow her around all day and she gets sticky fingers all over just like the other 2 do!

So the other day I was having a pretty hard day and I was anything but a happy mom around here. The girls were being noisy and I was trying to clean and it seemed like every time I turned around I had to get mad at one of them.

Then I decided to take out my camera and breath for a minute.

The girls were trying to be good so they went upstairs and got into the dress up stuff. They came downstairs and grabbed the brooms and played fairy princess cow girl running away from the scary monster baby.

for about an hour.

I love taking pictures because it's not just about trying to get the best picture you can...it's about a different perspective. It changes you! It makes you look at something differently.

It helps me see how cute Lauren is trying to keep up with her sisters.

It lets me see how good of friends Maren and Taylor really are.

Thank you girls for helping me see that some things can wait....

Thank you for all the giggles I hear and the never ending desire to play...

Thank you for you simple insight into this crazy world.

Thank you for your constant need for kisses and hugs.

Thank you thank you for always reminding me to live in the moment with you. Thank you for letting me in on your endless game of dreaming.

Maren's 1st Official Day Of Kindergarten

So I have to admit I was not on the ball the day she started Kindergarten!!! She had to be to school at 8:45 and I didn't wake up until 8:30 so we were rushing and she was mad at me! Usually my baby wakes me up at least by 7:00 or 7:30 so bad day to sleep in :) Anyways she was so excited to go she wouldn't even look at the camera. She kept telling me she had to go see her teacher and so I got just a couple pictures and then she ran.

I love this picture of her waiting in line to get to go into the school. She just kept looking at me and then the teacher and she was getting so nervous. Once the teacher said it was time to go in she was excited and didn't even look back...she was ready!

Craft Thursday

So I started craft Thursday yesterday and the kids LOVED it!! I really wanted to start doing something for Maren and Taylor because I feel like ever since I had Lauren our lives have pretty much revolved around her. So hence the birth of Craft Thursday. We had a few kids come over and help out and it was so much fun. The kids made something to go in their windows and hang them up. You just take wax paper and put flower pedals and grass clippings etc. in there and then you fold it in half and iron it together. Then we cut them into whatever shape they wanted and then cut a hole at the top and added a string. They had so much fun and I'm positive that craft thursday will continue from now on :)

Taylors first day of preschool

Taylor's very first day of preschool was on Tuesday. Her preschool is in this cute farm house and she couldn't stop talking about the horses. My family is allergic to horses so we never get very close to them, but she was excited about them anyways.

The first picture I took of her before we started to walk in.

She gave me a cheesy grin when I made her stop so I could get another picture.

She saw the door and was pretty scared at first but then decided to show me her backpack (below) and then she was all better :)

She RAN into preschool! I was so excited for her.

When we got into the house and she met her teacher she held my leg and said, "ok mom let's go" I told her that I can't go in and that she had to be a big girl and go sit with her teacher. She looked up at me with her big green eyes and thought about it for a minute and said with her little quiet voice, "Ok mom, I'll be good." She let go of my leg and I watched her go in and I was SHOCKED that it brought tears to my eyes. I guess I was more ready for Maren to go to preschool than Tay. I was sad the whole time she was gone, but when she got back she was so happy and she told me that she wanted to go back tomorrow. I guess she was more ready for school than I thought she was. Maren doesn't officially start school until this Monday so it was pretty hard for her to watch Taylor go to school without her. She survived the week though and I can't wait until Monday, I think Maren can't either!!

but they are :) Being a mom sometimes can be so hard...just waking up in the morning can be difficult right? But I got up and fixed them breakfast and I was just standing there looking at my cute kids and thought how lucky I am to be able to see these little faces everyday. They started school this week and honestly it kind of broke my heart...for a minute :) They are so ready for school so it makes it all ok. I just can't believe I have a Kindergartner. I guess I didn't think this far ahead so it's kind of blowing me away. Anyways I love these little turds...they are my life.

Swimming

We went swimming the other night for the Farmington Volunteer dinner/party and the girls had a ball. The little boy splashing water at the girls is BEN!! Maren's favorite person on this earth :) His family was there and she hadn't seen him since preschool ended and she freaked out when she saw him there. They played all night long and she had so much fun. Taylor played with her favorite person on earth too...her daddy :) so she was set. August was really busy for us this year so I'm glad we found a minute to get away and play with the kids.

We got a new play ground and the kids have just had a ball swinging on it, there are very few moments of the day that they aren't swinging. Taylor was in no mood for pictures so that's what all the grumpy faces are for in most of her pictures, but oh well...still a fun time.

P.S. Lauren is finally sitting up and actually letting me put her down now so life is GREAT :) I also took her into the doctor yesterday for her shots and she was 90% in height 20% in weight and 10% for her head :) she is the only one so far that has had that big of a gap between their weight and height. Also she was so sick last night from her shots she was up all night long just crying saying "my da da da da da" it was a pretty sad night, but we made it through it.

4th of July

We had so much fun this year for the 4th. We had a BBQ with my side of the family and we just let the kids run around and play until it was time for some fireworks. They had so much fun just hanging out and watching the fireworks with all of their cousins. Needless to say, It was a good day!

Fathers Day

We made Jon Breakfast in bed for Fathers day, but by the time we got it all made for him he was up. I had to tell him to climb back into bed before the girls saw him up so they wouldn't be sad. So we "surprised" him with breakfast and I let him sleep in ALL morning long, which for Jon is 9:00 am. :) Then we went to church and after church we went to my parents house. This is the first year, that I can think of, that we haven't gone to my inlaws for Fathers day since we have been married. We really missed Bruce and Kathy and Jon was pretty bummed we didn't go. I had to teach my lesson in church so we couldn't get away...next year we will try to get up there for sure. But it was fun spending time with my dad and letting him know what an awesome dad he is. I am so lucky to have 3 amazing dads in my life. Thank you Jon for being such a great dad and to Bruce and my dad...thank you for everything!!!

This was the first year I had my girls in Soccer. Taylor is 3 and Maren is 5 and when I started playing I was 4 so I thought that they were more than ready for it!! Well this is the first game of the season and it started out like this.

She is no where near the ball, but she looks really cute.

Easter

We went to my inlaws for Easter and the Easter Bunny paid my kids a visit there...The kids LOVED it.

I found these in my girls pockets when I was doing the laundry. They somehow knew that Mothers day was going to be coming soon so they went outside and picked flowers for me, grandma Kathy and grandma Julie. Maren said they were saving them for us and that I wasn't supposed to find them. So I took a picture of them so we could appreciate them...I'm sure they wouldn't have lasted that long. So I decided that for my friends and family that are interested I am going to start to post a tip here and there about photography....just for fun.
Ok so todays tip direct sunlight is NEVER your friend. People believe that the lighter the area the better the picture will turn out, but this is a no no! More light means more shadows. Of course you want it to be bright outside, but you don't want them in direct sunlight. If you are taking pictures of your kids in the middle of the afternoon with the sun over your head then you want to find some shade. Or if it's a cloudy flat day...AWESOME day for pictures. Just a tip!

Powder Mountain 2010

We went to our yearly powder mountain outing again and we had a ton of fun! Maren went to ski school with her cousin and learned how to snowplow :) Taylor let us drag her around the mountain even though she was SO tired, and of course the baby didn't sleep hardly at all! My favorite part of the trip was when all 3 of my girls got up before the sun did :) and we watched the sun rise together. It probably is one of my top 5 experiences of motherhood so far!

I remember when I was little running around my neighborhood with my shoes off and making mud pies in the curb as the water ran down the street from everyones sprinklers. I remember my dad cleaning up my dirty little hands and looking at the bottoms of my feet and telling me that I need to put shoes on when I play outside because my feet were completely black. I watch my little girls outside playing in the dirt and getting so muddy and I laugh. I hope they remember days like these and not the days that I am yelling at them not to get dirty :) I hope they thoroughly use up their childhood and I hope they look back on it as fondly as I do.

I posted the lyrics to this country song (I know I don't listen to country, but I love this poem) because it always makes me remember what matters and how fast it'll all go by.

Preschool Vday party

So Maren has been asking me to come to preschool, but I have been so busy with the pregnancy and now the new baby that up until now I haven't been once this year. So with a little bit of a guilt trip, put on by my daughter, I got a baby sitter and went to the Vday party with my little girl. I brought my camera and had some fun and Maren was so cute, the whole time I was there she kept telling all of her friends that I was her mom and she would run up to me and give me a hug. I guess she's not ashamed of me yet :)

Valentine's day tea party!!!!

We have a Valentines day tea party every year at our house with all of the cousins on my side of the family. Jon started this tradition because it was one of his favorite things as a kid. This year we decided to take picture of all of the grand kids and it was a lot of fun!! Maren picked out her very own princess outfit so that's why she has so many layers :). We ran around my neighborhood and ate some delicious cake and did some crafts. I love my nieces and nephews like my own so I love having a party with them just for kicks and giggles.

Preschool with the share bag

The infamous Share bag!! Maren has been telling me every time I pick her up from school that she didn't get the share bag. I have been trying to figure out what the share bag is for weeks now and she finally got it! She ran up to me and gave me a hug and said "Mom I got the share bag!!" She ran home and filled up her share bag to get ready for the next time she went to preschool. So when it was time for preschool again we woke up early and she insisted on getting a picture of her holding her share bag. It was the best day of preschool ever!
Every time Maren goes to preschool Taylor gets to play with her friend Grace while their siblings are gone to school. They are best friends and they play so good together. Every time they come over Taylor has to eat her breakfast for an HOUR I swear. So they both wanted to eat cereal and they sat on the couch like this for a good half an hour talking to each other and eating their cereal! Who says 2 year olds don't have an attention span :)

Bowling fun with soccer jerseys

We went bowling with my neighbors and their kids the other day and the girls had SO much fun. I couldn't get a picture of Taylor bowling because she needed my help to throw the ball, but she is actually pretty good at it. Maren would roll the ball as slow as possible and it would take forever to make it down the lane, but she had such a good time.

I signed them up for soccer the other day and they are going to be on the same team together and I will be their coach!!! I am so excited about it I can't hardly wait. Anyways they got their soccer jerseys and they wouldn't take them off for anything, they think they are pretty cool walking around with their jerseys on. Maren wanted #9 so bad and Taylor got #2... It's pretty fun. They are pretty cute in their little red and white uniforms :)

Princess and the Potty

My potty trained princess/super hero Tay Tay (She calls herself Super Hero Tay Tay)!!! I'm so proud of her, she is officially potty trained. It's the greatest feeling to have 2 out of 3 of my kids out of diapers, and it's awesome on the pocket book :) She is even potty trained at night...so far no accidents!!! Taylor has so much personality, she is so fun to watch grow up! Love you Taylor Jean xxoo

I can't believe she is almost 5

I remember when I got my first CTR ring and I was SHOCKED when my Maren came home with one last week. I know this growing up stuff happens fast, but I was kind of sad when she showed me. She turns 5 in March and I just had my 3rd baby a couple months ago....I just dont feel like I can possibly have a 5 year old because I just graduated from high school right? Nope 10 years now have gone and I am going on 8 years of marriage!!!! 8 YEARS!!! I guess that's why I have started taking so many pictures...I just don't want to miss a beat!

You know those moments when your kids say something so great and it means so much to you that you can't stop thinking about it for days? This was one of those for me :)
I put Maren to bed last night and her Daddy's hat was in bed with her. She saw it and had a huge smile on her face and I said, "Is that Daddy's hat?" and she put it on her head and laid down and closed her eyes. So I climbed down the ladder and turned around and she poked her cute little head up with this great big hat on her head and she looked at me and said, "He said it was magic, He said it will give me good dreams." and she laid back down and went to sleep.
She has been having really bad dreams lately and has been really scared of everything so Jon has been coming up with knew ideas to help her feel better so she will sleep. He whispers good dreams into her pillow and tells her pillow to give her good dreams and then this hat idea....I love you Jon. Dad's come up with the best ideas sometimes, I don't know how you do it!

Hot Chocolate and Shrinky Dinks

I remember playing with shrinky dinks when I was young up at my dad's restaurant. This was one of my favorite things to do so of course I was excited when Maren got shrinky dinks from her aunt for Christmas. We decided to pull them out yesterday and have some fun with a friend of hers from our neighborhood.

So we spent the weekend up at Powder Mountain for New years. We actually got Maren up on skis, but not Taylor. We tried to get her to go sledding and she wouldn't hear of it so she slid on her belly down this teeny hill and cried the whole way down. She's not very adventurous, but she's pretty cute.

I think it's pretty cute that Jon now carries around a couple of Pink

skis instead of his own....Dad's are pretty cute!

Christmas Eve

This Christmas Eve Maren and Taylor made cookies for Santa with my mom and I. We went to see the Temple lights and Maren fell asleep in front of the Christmas tree waiting for Santa. Also Maren and I wrote a Christmas list for Santa and I asked her what she wanted to say to Santa, she said "Tell him I've been naughty, but I've been happy." It made my night.

The girls painted my moms and dads window for christmas. For some reason I don't have a picture of the final results, but my mom did a good job (after the girls were sent inside). They were so excited to have Frosty the Snowman on the window they couldn't wait to get in their paint clothes and get dirty. It was a fun Saturday...thanks mom.

Maren and I needed a girls day. We have been building a house for the past few months and we are almost done!!! We have been going crazy so we decided to go with my sister and her daughter to go get Glitter Toes. It was Maren's first pedicure and she had so much fun. We need to do it more.

We went to Yellowstone last week and of course we went to Old Faithful! Taylor thought it was awesome and Maren thought it was a Volcano and was scared to death. I thought it was pretty cool because the last time I was there I was 5.

Maren started preschool on Tuesday!! She LOVES it. She is growing up so fast I can't believe it.

monthly book club

I started a book club with my nieces and nephews. Each month we have a topic so all of the kids can just pick out a book according the the subject and then we get together and read them. At the end we make some kind of treat and they make a huge mess! Oh well they have fun.

slip and slide fun!

I got the slip and slide out for the kids the other day; Maren had fun, but Taylor thought it was the coolest thing ever. Taylor was so excited about it that she would walk all the way up the hill all by herself. She would get a running head start and then she would stop at the top of the slide and throw herself down it with a huge smile on her face. It was fun to watch.

We went on our yearly Bear Lake trip a couple weeks ago and we took some pretty cute pictures of the kids! They are just in there jammies, but it was a perfect time for some family pictures.

WE MADE IT BACK!!!! Needless to say that it was different with kids, but it was a lot of fun. We took a ton of pictures because I got a fun new camera! We didn't make it to the river, but Jon and I decided that we would try to take Maren on a daily river trip next year...starting them young. We went hiking in Canyonlands and went to Arches, we had a blast!!!! Hopefully we'll make it a yearly trip.

Holy cow!!! Time goes by so fast. Taylor just turned 1 and Maren is now 3. They are finally starting to play together and that's a lot of fun. They are just growing up too fast.
